Healthy Breathing Clinic (HBC) was started by Suzanne Williams, a Chronic Disease Nurse Practitioner, to focus on providing first class local community based Respiratory services. We operate independently of Queensland Health as a private fee-paying organisation.

What is a Nurse Practitioner?

A Nurse Practitioner (NP) is a senior clinical nurse with a Master's degree, authorised to diagnose and treat various health conditions independently. They provide high-quality, patient-centered care, and engage in clinical research, education, and leadership. Nurse Practitioners are registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and have been practising in Australia for 21+ years.

Nurse Practitioners Can:

  • Provide health care in all states and territories

  • Provide patient rebates through Medicare

  • Provide prescriptions and access to PBS medicines

  • Refer patients to specialists and hospitals

  • Order x-rays and diagnostic tests

Nurse Practitioners Aim To:

  • Improve access to treatment

  • Provide care that is cost-effective

  • Target populations who are at risk

  • Provide outreach to those in rural and remote areas

  • Provide mentorship and clinical expertise to other healthcare professionals
